Testimonial / Bio
Born in the Montreal area of Quebec, Canada, the youngest of 3, with an adventurous spirit, open to other cultures, loving nature, mischievous, curious, and above all loving freedom. My father was a truck driver and my mother stayed at home, but knew very well how to be useful with her hands. Around the age of 7, following difficult circumstances, my life began to change. This affected my concentration at school, as well as my interpersonal relationships with my friends. Around the age of 10, another circumstance changed my life when I was sexually abused at a summer camp.
Here is my story
I still remember the feelings of rejection, shame, feeling used and dirty. I was very deeply hurt!
At the age of 12, I started using hard drugs and drinking alcohol. My life was all about partying and playing music. I was taking an auto mechanics course and I was high on drugs most of the time. I skipped class regularly.
I remember going to bed at night wondering how I was going to end the lives of the people who abused me (something I never did finally).
My life was all about partying to “forget” the pain inside.
I didn't tell anyone about what happened until I was 16. I first talked about it with a friend while I we were high on drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately, he didn't take me seriously so I continued to keep it to myself. I only talked about it again at the age of 20. I didn't know how to deal with it.
At the age of 18, still caught up in a life of sex, drugs and Rock and roll, not being able to find a way out of my suffering, I started to make a plan to end the life. I had planned everything; how, where, the day, etc...
Alone in my room one day in August 1988, I started writing on my closet door; ''Life is the most beautiful thing that God created.'' As I read this, I started crying my eyes out and said: “God if you exist, do something!”
Right after, the atmosphere in my room changed and I saw Jesus appear. I saw his body, not his face, but I knew it was Jesus. I began to sob and at that time I knew I was born again.
Shortly afterwards, I met a person who told me about Jesus and his love for me. At first I didn't want to hear about it, but gradually I opened up. We started reading the Bible together, and the Holy Spirit started touching my heart. This person invited me to go to the church where his mother and sister were going, so I went.
I went back to school to complete my secondary education which I passed successfully.
A few months later, I joined a church where there was a group of young people. They were organizing a trip to the Magdalen Islands, Canada. They accepted that I join them despite my long hair and my "rocker" appearance and my faith really grew a lot during this trip.
In February 1990, I was water baptized and the following September I returned to Bible college to study theology.
Many would ask what my ministry was but the truth of the matter was, I was simply not ready. I was still not healed from my past wounds. During a counseling class at Bible college, the teacher started talking about the negative effects people experience who were sexually abused. This is when the process of my internal healing began which lasted a number of years. This professor had suggested that I continue to meet with him at his private clinic, and that's what I agreed to do.
In 1993, I graduated from Bible college and found myself working night shifts as a security guard. Since I had plenty of time, I read many books and was able to continue my Bible studies on my own.
In 1995, I was sent by my security company to work for the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal, which was a branch of the United Nations. God had His plan for me. I started to learn Spanish and English with the best international interpreters. Given that the Lord had a calling on my life for the nations, He made sure that I was equipped for my future ministry. I worked there until 2003 and then God called me to leave my job to become an associate pastor in a small town 3 hours north of Montreal (Mont-Laurier). I stayed there a year and a half, then traveled in Quebec and Canada helping incumbent pastors, evangelizing, helping people in transition and doing healing & delivering with the brokenhearted.
In 2005, the Lord led me to Alberta and more specifically to Lethbridge where I worked for the Miracle Channel. I learned a lot about the operations of a television station. I worked there ministering to Francophones and Anglophones by responding to emails, phone calls, and sending mail to partners.
I have always been involved in different ministries inside the church like bass player
in worship groups, preacher, prayer groups, youth pastor, food banks, immigrant aid, and especially in evangelistic groups. Healing & deliverance and supporting pastors have always been the main areas where GOD has used me in ministry.
In 2009, I met my wife and ministry companion in Yukon, Canada where we were prepared for what was to become our main ministry, that of sharing the Gospel, healing, & deliverance and discipleship training.
We left for Mexico in 2017 (first country outside of Canada as a missionary) to teach english in a private Christian school. God uses us with the gifts He has given us for equiping the body of Christ.
1. How did you develop this passion for Lost Souls?
Gaétan: In fact, since the beginning of my conversion, I have felt in my heart a love and a passion for lost souls, which I believe is the heart of Jesus for those who do not know him. Jesus died for all so that all would come to know him. “This is good and pleasing before God our Saviour, who wills that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Tim. 2:3
2. What event or circumstance led you to travel to Evangelize in Mexico?
Gaétan: My wife and I knew that God was calling us to Mexico. How did we know? Well, we just new it, there are things that we can't always explain. We started looking for a Christian school in Mexico where we could teach the Word of God. My wife found a school north of Mexico City with the NICS organization (Network of International Christian Schools) where we taught for 1 year.
This is how the Lord opened a door for us to go and evangelize in Mexico.
3. Why Mexico more than any other country?
Gaétan: Good question! :) In fact, the Lord put Mexico on our hearts and that's the direction we took.
4. How did you discover Mexico and since when?
Gaétan: In fact, we didn't discover Mexico :), it discovered us!
